A day before the match Sehwag had dismissed the suggestion that he was going to struggle in the bowling department with the loss of New Zealand's Daniel Vettori who had returned home for national duty. But on Thursday, after crashing to a four-wicket loss, Sehwag had to eat his words.
Sehwag and Shoaib Malik, the two spinners in the side, went for 58 runs in their four overs together, including 15 off the last over that in fact cost them the match.
"We couldn't fill up the fifth bowler's space and that turned out to be a crucial factor for today's loss," he told reporters.
"I think the last over itself was the turning point of the match," he added.
The Delhi skipper, however, maintained they had a lot of positives to draw from the loss.
"Gautam and Shikhar Dhawan played exceptionally well and I believe we had posted a good total as in the last game too we scored 191 and then went on to defend it."
He added that if he had won the toss he too would have chosen to field and not set a target.
