Birmingham need to beat Blackburn at St Andrews to have any hope of securing survival on the last day. Reading are a point above them and face rock-bottom Derby, who have won just one league game all season. Fulham are currently one place above the drop zone and above Reading on goal difference. The Cottagers face a Portsmouth side with at least one eye on the FA Cup final on Saturday week.
Bolton still have a mathematical chance of being sucked in to trouble, but would have to lose heavily at Chelsea while Reading and Fulham would need big wins.
OUTCOME: Birmingham to beat Blackburn, Reading draw and in-form Fulham win, meaning the Blues and the Royals join Derby in the Coca-Cola Championship next season.
