Advocaat chose to postpone all Zenit's Russian Premier Liga games taking place in May in order to prepare for the final against Rangers, and fielded his strongest available side for the friendly match.
Nine of the players who started the semi-final second leg 4-0 drubbing of Bayern Munich began the game, with Andrei Arshavin coming in for Viktor Fayzulin and Fatih Tekke replacing Pavel Pogrebniak, who is suspended for the final.
With Argentine Alejandro Domingues also fielded, that three-pronged strikeforce has suggested an attacking approach to Wednesday's final, which has also been evident in Zenit's recent training sessions.
Pograbniak nonetheless came off the bench to score against AZ, adding to Roman Shirokov's earlier strike.
Advocaat also confirmed that full-back Aleksandr Anyukov will be fit to play against Rangers, whilst Korean defender Kim Dong-Jin is currently training on an individual program and could make the substitutes' bench in Manchester.
With their physical preparations almost complete, Advocaat believes Zenit will also be better prepared mentally for the final given the Scottish side's current domestic situation.
Prior to their match with AZ, the Dutchman said: "Their (Rangers) game against Motherwell was very nervy and they didn't take their chances at the start of the match.
"Now it remains for them to win their remaining games to win the title and that will make them feel nervous.
"After the second leg against Bayern I told my players that if they play that well again, like they have done in the previous rounds, then they have a chance of winning the competition.
"I've brought a winning spirit to Zenit, and the most important thing for me now is to win the UEFA Cup.
"If we have come this far then we have to finish the job.
